Challenge

A large organization was hiring at scale across multiple roles and regions. Recruiters spent most of their time on initial screening—résumés, cover letters, and basic fit—which created bottlenecks and inconsistency. Some hiring managers wanted speed; others wanted rigor and auditability. HR needed a way to shortlist candidates faster while applying the same criteria and keeping a clear record for compliance.

We were asked to design and deploy an AI-powered talent screening agent: ingest applications, score against role-specific criteria, flag potential bias, and produce a ranked shortlist with explanations so recruiters could review and advance candidates with confidence.

Approach

We built an agentic workflow that took job descriptions and application materials as input, extracted and scored candidates against defined criteria, and applied bias checks. The agent produced a shortlist with scores and reasoning. HR could adjust criteria and thresholds and use the same pipeline across roles. We kept humans in the loop: the agent recommended; recruiters decided.

Solution

We delivered an AI screening agent and playbook.

We implemented an AI agent that parsed résumés and cover letters, matched candidates to role requirements, and scored fit. We added bias-detection rules and audit logs. We trained the agent on the client’s role taxonomy and calibrated thresholds with HR. We delivered the agent, integration points with the ATS, and a governance playbook: who owns criteria, how to review edge cases, and how to refresh the model. Timeline: 10 weeks.
